Oats dalia upma with step by step pics and tips. It is very tasty and healthy upma prepared using broken wheat(dalia), oats and vegetables. It is weight loss recipe prepared in a healthy way. By this time you are all aware that i am part of this lovely group where we bloggers share recipe for theme suggested by a person in alphabetical order every week. This week theme is suggested by "Sujata Roy di" who blogs at batterupwithsujata . We bloggers sharing different recipes using gourds like bitter gourd, ivy gourd, snake gourd, ridge gourd, bottle gourd. Many of us do not like these gourd recipes, but trust me we can prepare many tasty recipes with these gourds. Coming to Sujata di, she shares many traditional (Bengali cuisine) and authentic recipes. Ingredients
Oats - 1 small glass
dalia / broken wheat / godumanuka - 1 small glass
water - 4 and half glasses (adjust)
onion - 1
carrot -1
beans - 3
peas - 1/4 cup
green chillies - 4
ginger - 1 inch
curry leaves -1 sprig
coriander leaves - 1 tsp
salt as per taste
oil- 2 tsp
mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
cumin seeds - 1 /2 tsp
urad dal - 1/2 tsp
chana dal - 1/2 tsp
Lemon juice - 3 tsp (half lemon)
fresh grated coconut - 2tsp
Instructions
1) Finely chop onion, veggies, green chilli, ginger and keep it aside.
2) Dry fry oats on low medium flames till it turn crispy and keep it aside.
3) Heat a oil in kadai add mustard seeds when it starts crackle add urad and chana dal when it starts changing color add cumin seeds, curry leaves fry it well.
4) Add green chillies , ginger fry well. Then add onions, pinch of salt and fry till it changes color.
5) Now add carrot , beans, peas fry it well and let it cook by closing lid till veggies becomes smooth.
6) Now add 4 and half glasses of water and required amount of salt and let it boil.
7) Now add dalia little by little and mix well.
8) Let the above cook for few second and then add oats, mix everything well and close the lid.
9) Cook till water absorbs, then switch off the flames. Add fresh grated coconut, coriander leaves, lemon juice and mix everything well.
Thats it healthy and tasty oats & dalia upma is ready to serve.
Tips
** You can also add capsicum or veggies of your choice.
** If you feel upma becomes very thick after adding oats then add some more water. AS water quantity depends on type of oats you used.
